The entire hotel was clean and smelled good. All the staff we encountered were very friendly. Housekeeping happily supplied us with extras after asking. The room we stayed in was recently updated. It was beautiful. Small but just what we needed for two people was out on the town most of the time. Clean spotless bed, pillows, toilet, shower, sink. All the important places and even the places that would usually be overlooked. They were testing the fire alarm system one morning we were there and I assure you there is no need to worry about not hearing the alarm. Works great lol It's also located in the absolute perfect spot. 30 minutes walking from the White House and all the places to see. There's a Starbucks right in the corner with friendly staff. Beside that is a sandwich shop called Potbelly's. They're sandwiches tasted like old school Subway. I highly recommend trying it. We will be returning next year.

The Architect is a superbly located boutique hotel that has been around for over a century. On foot it's seconds to buses, minutes to the metro and just a few minutes more and you're at the White House! Rooms are quite small without fridge or microwave but there's so many good food options nearby I didn't mind. Shower is A+. My room was facing the street so a little noisy but not unbearably so. It's an old hotel with a lot of history - adjust your expectations accordingly. The location at this price point is simply unmatchable.

Orlando

Exceptional value. One block from our walking destination, multiple parking garages within one block, multiple places to eat within a block or so, but many close 5-8 pm. Taxi pickup at the front door. Room is small (one chair, not room for a second), bathroom large, bed comfortable, and all newly remodeled and clean. Streets around it felt safe walking at 10:00 pm (Just a block off of K-Street in the high rent district). Don't expect the St. Regis (just a block away). Embrace quirky for the price.

1) Location, location, location. It's close to everything, and it's next to a great Korean bibimbap place. 2) The staff was very friendly and accommodating. 3) Value. This place is a steal. Is it the nicest hotel I've stayed in? No. But good luck finding something this centrally located for this price that isn't a roach motel. The place is clean and comfortable, and I will absolutely stay here again. 4) The complimentary slippers. (It's the little things.)

The Architect is extremely good value for money. The location is excellent for access to the Mall and museums, as well as to all the restaurants on 14th St. Room was very clean and nicely decorated. Loved the rain shower. We were in town for a graduation and other hotels were charging a fortune; the Architect came through with a great stay at a reasonable price. Great coffee at Blue Bottle half a block up the street.
